Dave's Story

David was abused on a regular basis by his partner, as their relationship deteriorated she was drinking more and more.  After one explosive fight David’s partner threw a frying pan from the cooker at him. Still fully loaded the frying pan became a lethal weapon and David received third degree burns to his arms.  David never reported it, like so many men he was ashamed to tell his story.

David made the decision so many man have to do, the decision to leave.  At the time of leaving he had a beautiful year old baby girl.  He never believed he could escape with his daughter.  Fearing for his life he left.

David’s fight to see his daughter began in 2014.  At first his ex-partner wanted him back so allowed access to see his daughter.  David asked his partner to get help for her anger but she denied that there was an issue.  He hoped that if she did they could possibly move forward together.

In early 2015 mum moved another man in to the house and the walls went up.  Dave did not see his daughter for 6 months until he got a court order to see her.  Even then his Ex put every obstacle in his way.  David contacted the police but they provided the stock reply.  “This is a civil matter speak to your lawyer”

David went back to court and mum was told to behave… but continued to ignore the court order.

During this time Dave continued to pay the amount that he and his Ex had agreed to support his daughter.   After many attempts to see his wee girl it was not happening.  Dave stopped paying his Ex.

In late 2015 he met his ex and his daughter at a local leisure centre, and herd the words no father ever wants to hear “You’re not my daddy anymore” This would have broken a lesser man but it just made David want to fight more.  He borrowed more money and went back to court.  He got a further court order but his time the judge asked for back ground reports.  Social Work were now involved.

The social worker initiated contact for Dave and finally he started to see his daughter again.

Social Work attempted to visit the house on 5 occasions for a home visit but were refused access.  Eventually after the involvement of the police and a warrant being provided a home visit was carried out.  David was advised that the scene in the house was horrific and that his Ex and her new partner were not only drinking but using drugs also.

On 27th June 2020 David obtained full custody of his daughter.

David still encourages his daughter to see his Ex Partner hoping that it will help in her rehabilitation.  This is supervised with the support of a local social worker.  The new daddy is currently on holiday at Her majesty's pleasure.

Davids Advice.

DONT GIVE UP, Your Kids Need You.

Don't take the abuse, report it.

Don't be ashamed.

If you need support ask.

For legal reasons, David is hot this dad's real name and his image is not shown.
